It wasn’t until the public investiture of the Prince of Wales at Caernarfon Castle in 1911 that the daffodil was adopted as a Welsh symbol. Prime Minister David LLoyd George (a Welshman and speaker) apparently insisted the flowers were used.
It is a native flower of Wales and prolific around West Wales Retreat it is called Cennin Pedr (Peter's Leek) in Welsh.
